On Monday, Aidan sat up, aided by his three physiotherapists, for the first time. Pretty wobbly, dizzy and feeling pukey but he made it.
He smiled spontaneously for the first time since his main surgery. Glad to be out of bed and into a wheelchair, his lame arm in a sling to keep the shoulder from dislocating. Still looking a bit tired and puffy faced.
Being a normal ten-year-old boy and goofing off for the picture with his older cousin Ryan, and the monkey his friend Allan brought.
The University of Alberta Stollery Children's Hospital is on the fourth floor. It is like an enormous play area focused on children.
They even provide a Wii for Aidan to play on. As long as Grandma holds down the #2 button, he can handle the controls with his left hand.
Praise God, thus far there is no evidence of internal infection although he is taking antibiotics as a prophylaxis.
