This morning was different. Keith had been with him all night but left before he woke up around 7:30AM. By the time Keith arrived at the school where he is the principal, he got a phone call that Aidan was having the dreaded cluster seizures--one seizure after another, to the point where the nurses couldn't give him his regular anti-seizure pills since he couldn't swallow them.
The nurses called an ambulance to take Aidan back to the University Hospital Emergency, and Keith met him there. Aidan was a pretty sad, disappointed and discouraged little boy when we saw him around 9:30AM.
He surgeon ordered blood tests (which turned out "looking good") and a CatScan, worrying about a possible recurrence of infection. Aidan was also hooked up to electronic monitors checking his brain functions and the sources of the seizures.
He will be in the U of A hospital for a couple of days, and is sad, since he was looking forward to spending the weekend at home. By the time Jo and I saw him again around 4PM he had perked up considerably. Not wearing the usual radiant smile which endears him to all the nurses, but at least hanging in there. Over supper, mom Cheryl and sister Savannah visited for a while.

How is a guy supposed to concentrate on his comic with some masked woman messing with his head??
Not a comfortable procedure. (That sliver of grey hair on the bottom right belongs to dad Keith, staying VERY close.)
Wired up to figure out what is going on inside that head.
When all the messing was done, listening to music on his iPod brings out an Aidan smile (maybe not quite as radiant as usual, but a good try.)
